Shine the Light is a message of hope, compassion, and understanding that must to be heard now more than ever. Mental Wellness Classes

During these unprecedented times, many people are finding it hard to come to grips with the “New Normal.” During these Mental Wellness classes which can be tailored to meet the situation, Seamus talks about mental wellness and identifies practical strategies to help people adjust to the challenges we all face with the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. He talks about the “Pivot,” not just in terms of how we do business, but in how we adjust to the changes we are experiencing in our personal lives.

When the Coronavirus hit in mid-March, Seamus had to cancel over a hundred shows nationwide. He quickly pivoted and found his own way forward by teaching courses on mental wellness and suicide prevention at Texas A&M College of Medicine and by doing motivational talks for Prudential Insurance, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, and other corporate clients.

Suicide Prevention Training

With the unprecedented Covid 19 epidemic, many people are struggling to make sense of what’s going on around them. Sadly, in extreme cases, individual in crisis often see suicide as their only option. In 2018, 48,344 died by suicide in the United States. Suicide is the most preventable form of death. We all have a role to play in identifying those who are struggling and getting them the help they desperately need. Seamus will train you on what to do in the event you have an opportunity to help someone in crisis using the widely acclaimed QPR (Question—Persuade—Refer) protocol.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer – 3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor. QPR can be learned in as little as one and a half hours. QPR gatekeepers learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, know how to offer hope, and know how to get help and save a life.
